What do you do for fun when you are stuck at home all day and into the evening with a 14 year old, a 10 year old...and a house of cats?
Well... ya bake of course!
That's what the girls and I did today...we baked some yummy stuff.
Thought I would share the recipes and photos of what we made.
First we made Blonde Brownies
Here's the recipe I used
They really turned out delicious!
Soooo easy too!
Once I started baking I couldn't stop..I got bit..by the baking bug!!
So I decided to make these yummy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars, I'd made them before...and they're a keeper and everyone loves them.
Then I decided to try and make something new, something I've never made before.
A few days ago I came across this recipe for Rugelach, it's a traditional Jewish holiday cookie/pastry.
(at least that's what I've read)
The recipe was really easy to follow and they turned out very delicious.
I used a golden raisin mixture, finely chopped pecans and apricot preserves in the batch I made.
Next time I am going to bake them on a lower temp and watch them closer.
I had never made them before and my oven is old and frankly...it just doesn't work right.
But they are still delicious.
The Girls and I had a lot of fun baking together today.
We weren't alone in the kitchen either...Sookie and Squeaky supervised our every move.
Especially Sookie...she had to be right up in the action...Squeaky...he danced around the floor hoping for something yummy to drop.
After all that baking we were all pretty pooped out.
See?
I took a break from the kitchen for awhile and then later made Grilled Mojito Marinaded Chicken with Grilled Red Onion, Flafel, cucumber/onion salad, cucumber greek yogurt dressing with cilantro and flat bread.
Can anyone say YUMM?
It was all pretty tasty.
So...that was most of my day...I'm pretty tired now.
Maybe I will get a nice night of sleep.
